They generally come with a manufacturers warranty of 20-25 years and provide a wind resistance of up to 60mph. But there is little difference between brands and they do not enhance the value of the home.

  • ArchitecturalThis type of shingle is still economically affordable, but have the added potential to add value to any home. Still offering clean lines, they also offer great dimension to your roofing system. They offer increased durability and higher wind ratings (up to 130mph wind resistance), and generally have a 30year or Lifetime Warranty. These shingles also vary in appearance from one manufacturer to another.

Tile Roofing

Tile roofing, much like metal roofing, is very durable, energy saving, and great for the environment. They can be used for your home, business or both. Tile roofs have a Class A Fire Rating, wind resistance up to 125mph, resistant to earthquakes, have a Class 3 & 4 hail resistance, great for any weather extremes (hot and cold), and old tiles can be recycled to make new (making them very “green” for the environment.

Just like with anything else in life, you get what you pay for. So if you are looking for quality over cost, tile roofs are the way to go. They come in many architectural styles and carpentry, many types (ceramic, clay, slate, concrete), they are virtually maintenance free if installed properly, and come with a warranty up to 50years. Some insurance companies even offer discounts for homes with tile roofs.

These roofing systems are very energy efficient because the ventilation they provide prevents heat transfer into the home or office, saving 10-30% in energy costs a year. And again they are environmentally friendly because they can be recycled and are made of natural materials.
